FREEmont Community Skate

Holiday Skating

We are glad to announce the return of our annual FREE holiday skating for this year.  This program allows for Free skating for Fremont area residents on the following dates:

  • December 22-26 (closed 12/25)

  • December 29-31 & Jan 2 (closed 1/1)

FREE Skating Times are as follows:

11-12 Stick & Puck (prek-4th Graders)

12:15-1:30 Free Open Skating (pre-k- 4th Graders/Family)

1:45-3pm Free Open Skating (5th grade & up)

3:15-4:15pm Stick & Puck (5th Grade & up)

We would strongly encourage everyone to attend during the appropriate designated time to help us provide a more positive experience for everyone joining us over the holiday season. 

-Stick & Puck time- open "hockey" time 

  • Sticks & Helmets will be provided on a first come basis.

  • Skates, helmets & sticks will be required

  • Rink will be divided into thirds- Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner

  • Rules will be posted at the rink & will be strongly enforced

  • Stick to the designated time for your age group

-Open Skating time- Free skating time

  • Skates will be handed out on a first come basis

  • The ice arena has a limitted number of skate walkers available for those who need help with skating.  These walkers are only to be used to "help" with skating.  Under no circumstance will horseplay with the walkers be tolerated.  Misuse of the walkers will result in the walker being taken away.

  • Listing of included Towns:

  • Thanks to the Evelyn Sidner Youth Endowment along with the FREEmont Community Skate sponsored by the City of Fremont along with other generous donations we are able to offer this program to individuals residing in the following communities:

  • Fremont, Arlington, Blair, Kennard, Nickerson, Winslow, Uehling, Oakland, Hooper, Scribner, Snyder, North Bend, Ames, Cedar Bluffs, Mead, Wahoo, Valley.  We also extend this program to anyone playing in the Fremont Flyers program. 

  • Please be prepared to show proof of residence.

  • If you are not from these communities normal public skate admission will apply to skate during these times.

The Evelyn Sidner Youth Endowment along with the FREEmont Community Skate sponsored by the City of Fremont will provide all youth of Fremont with free ice time at all open public skating.  Please inquire at the Sidner Ice Arena's front desk for information.


The YMCA Foundation, through the generosity of Neil and Bonnie Schilke, has scholarships available toward a goal of “no youth denied” to the Sidner Ice Arena. Please inquire at the Sidner Ice Arena’s front desk for application forms.
